Graduate Fellowships and Scholarships

The Graduate School offers competitive fellowships and scholarships to provide financial support to outstanding graduate students. Awards include the Chancellor’s Graduate Nonresident Tuition Scholarship, U of A Doctoral Fellowships, James H. White Doctoral Fellowship, Benjamin Franklin Lever Tuition Fellowship, and Harry and Jo Leggett Chancellor’s Fellowship. The Graduate School also maintains a directory of external scholarships from federal agencies and private organizations.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantships (GAs) are awarded by a variety of departments and units on campus. There are two types of graduate assistantships: Students on 50% assistantships work 20 hours per week (in teaching, research, or other areas) or teach up to two 3-credit hour courses. Students on 25% assistantships will work 10 hours per week.

Emergency Funding

The Graduate School offers support for graduate students experiencing an unforeseen financial emergency beyond their control that hinders their ability to continue enrollment. There are two awards available: the International Education Catastrophic Fund and the Needy Family Emergency Fund.

UofA Cares

U of A Cares is a service of the Dean of Students office at the University of Arkansas. UA Cares offers several resources for students on campus to help students take advantage of resources on and off campus, including financial and emergency assistance.
